Terms of Service

Article 1. Scope

  1. These Terms of Service define the conditions for using SnapTask, provided by the service operator, between the operator and all users of the service.
  2. By downloading, installing, or using the app, or by using the website, users are deemed to have agreed to these terms.
  3. Users who do not agree to these terms may not use the service.

Article 2. Definitions

In these terms, the following words have the meanings set out below.

  1. “Service” means all functions provided by the operator through the smartphone app and website, including task management, reminder notifications, and calendar integration.
  2. “User Content” means all information entered or saved by users in the service, including todos, task titles, notes, importance, urgency, due dates and times, notification settings, recurrence settings, pinned status, attached images, and completion status.
  3. “Paid Plan” means a subscription-based paid plan separately defined by the operator within the service.
  4. “Account” means authentication information created to use the service.

Article 3. Account Registration

  1. Users must create an account using one of the available methods in order to use the service.
  2. Users must provide true and accurate registration information.
  3. Users are responsible for properly managing their account information, including passwords and authentication tokens, and must not lend, transfer, sell, or otherwise provide it to third parties.
  4. The operator is not responsible for damages caused by insufficient account management, incorrect settings, or use by a third party.
  5. As a general rule, each person may register only one account unless the operator determines otherwise.

  • Registration with email address and password

Article 4. Service Description

The service is a task management service designed to let users capture todos with minimal effort the moment they come to mind, and add details such as deadlines and notifications later when needed.

Main features

  • Quick capture of todos using title, importance, and urgency
  • Conversion between todos and tasks
  • Timeline display for tasks with due dates and times
  • Reminders through local notifications on the device
  • Recurring settings such as daily and weekly, with available options depending on the plan
  • One-way export to Google Calendar
  • Image attachments, limited to paid plans
  • Statistics based on completion history
  1. The operator may add, change, or discontinue functions of the service without prior notice to users.
  2. The service is a tool to support information organization and does not provide medical, legal, tax, or other professional advice.

Article 5. Paid Plans

  1. By subscribing to a paid plan separately defined by the operator, users may use additional functions specified by the operator in addition to functions available on the free plan.
  2. Fees, billing periods, payment methods, automatic renewal, and cancellation conditions for paid plans are governed by the store from which the purchase is made, either the App Store or Google Play.
  3. Subscriptions renew automatically unless automatic renewal is disabled within the period specified before the end of the current billing period.
  4. Subscription management and cancellation must be performed from each app store’s settings screen. The operator does not handle cancellation procedures on behalf of users.
  5. Refunds for paid fees are governed by each app store’s policy. The operator does not issue direct refunds.
  6. Subscriptions cannot be transferred between platforms. A plan purchased on iOS cannot be used on Android, and the reverse is also true.

Examples of additional features provided by paid plans

  • Expanded notification reminder slots, from 1 on the free plan to up to 3 on the paid plan
  • Expanded calendar integration accounts, from 1 account on the free plan to unlimited on the paid plan
  • Expanded recurrence settings, including monthly, interval-based, and yearly recurrence
  • Image attachments for tasks, up to 3 images per task
  • Pinned items in the todo list
  • Detailed statistics screen
  • Additional color theme choices

The additional features provided may change without prior notice to users due to service improvements or similar reasons.

Article 6. Calendar Integration

  1. The service provides integration with external calendar services, including Google Calendar, after receiving explicit authorization from the user.
  2. Calendar integration authorization may be revoked at any time from the settings of each service or from the service’s settings screen.
  3. The service exports tasks registered by users in the service to external calendars as events. Exported events are handled according to the terms of the external calendar service.
  4. The maximum number of calendar integration accounts differs depending on the user’s plan.
  5. Calendar integration may become unavailable without notice due to changes in external service specifications, suspension of API availability, or other reasons beyond the operator’s reasonable control.

Article 7. Notifications

  1. The service sends task reminder notifications only when the user has permitted notifications on the device.
  2. All notifications are scheduled locally on the user’s device. They are not individually pushed from the operator’s servers.
  3. Notification permission may be revoked at any time from the device OS settings or the service’s settings screen.
  4. Notification delivery timing and success depend on the device status, including power, network, and OS power-saving settings. The operator does not guarantee that notifications will be delivered reliably.

Article 8. Prohibited Conduct

Users must not engage in the following acts when using the service.

  1. Acts that violate laws, regulations, or public order and morals
  2. Acts that infringe intellectual property rights, privacy rights, portrait rights, or other rights of the operator, other users, or third parties
  3. Disassembling, decompiling, reverse engineering, or otherwise analyzing the software that constitutes the service
  4. Placing an excessive load on the service’s servers or network, or sending a large number of requests by automated means
  5. Unauthorized access, hacking, other security breach acts, or bypassing the service’s access controls
  6. Reproducing, redistributing, or selling the service content or information obtained through the service without the operator’s prior written consent
  7. Registering false information or impersonating another person
  8. Interfering with operation of the service or damaging the operator’s reputation
  9. Providing benefits directly or indirectly to antisocial forces
  10. Any other act that the operator determines to be inappropriate in light of the purpose of the service

If the operator determines that a user has violated this article, the operator may suspend provision of the service to that user or delete the account without prior notice.

Article 9. Suspension, Changes, and Termination

The operator may suspend all or part of the service without prior notice to users if any of the following applies.

  • When performing system maintenance, inspection, or updates
  • When providing the service becomes difficult due to earthquakes, fires, power outages, infectious disease outbreaks, war, riots, or other force majeure events
  • When providing the service becomes difficult due to computer or communication line accidents, or failures of third-party services used by the operator
  • When the operator reasonably determines that suspension of the service is necessary
  1. The operator may change the content of the service or terminate provision of the service with reasonable prior notice to users.
  2. Except to the extent set out in Article 10, the operator is not responsible for damages incurred by users or third parties due to suspension, changes, or termination of the service.

Article 10. Disclaimers

  1. The operator does not warrant that the service will fit a user’s specific purpose, have expected functions, value, accuracy, or usefulness, be available without interruption, or be free of bugs or errors.
  2. The operator does not warrant that User Content entered or saved through the service will not be lost, altered, or damaged. Users are responsible for backing up their own data as needed.
  3. The operator does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of information obtained by users through use of the service.
  4. The operator is not involved in disputes between users and third parties, including other users.
  5. The operator is not responsible for damages arising from failures, changes, termination, or similar events involving Firebase, Google Cloud, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, or other third-party services.
  6. Except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence by the operator, the operator’s liability in relation to provision of the service is limited to the total amount of service fees paid by the user to the operator during the most recent 12 months before the damage occurred.
  7. If the operator’s liability cannot be limited under the Consumer Contract Act or other laws, this article applies only to the extent permitted by those laws.

Article 11. Intellectual Property Rights

  1. All intellectual property rights in the service and the software, design, trademarks, logos, images, text, and other materials that constitute the service belong to the operator or duly authorized third parties.
  2. Copyrights and other rights in User Content belong to the user or rightful rights holder. However, users grant the operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, display, and process User Content to the extent necessary for providing, maintaining, improving, and investigating issues with the service.
  3. Users do not acquire any intellectual property rights related to the service beyond the scope expressly permitted by these terms.

Article 12. Account Deletion

  1. Users may delete their account at any time from the service’s settings screen.
  2. When an account is deleted, the user’s data held by the operator, including todos, tasks, attached images, settings, and authentication information registered in the service, will be deleted as promptly as technically possible.
  3. Deleted data cannot be restored after account deletion.
  4. If a user is subscribed to a paid plan, deleting the account does not automatically cancel the subscription in each app store. Users should cancel the subscription from the app store settings before deleting the account.
  5. Some data may remain in backup systems for a short period, but it will not be used for any purpose other than restoration.

Article 13. Changes to These Terms

  1. When the operator determines it necessary, the operator may change these terms without individual notice to users in accordance with Article 548-4 of the Civil Code of Japan.
  2. When changing these terms, the operator will announce the content of the revised terms and the effective date by posting them in the service or on the operator’s website.
  3. The revised terms take effect when the effective date arrives. If a user continues using the service after the effective date, the user is deemed to have agreed to the revised terms.

Article 14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  1. All matters concerning the interpretation and application of these terms and use of the service are governed by the laws of Japan.
  2. Any dispute between a user and the operator relating to the service or these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court as the court of first instance, depending on the claim amount.
